| 1. What does it mean for the Bard program to win a championship? | |||||||
| Hard to answer - it never happened before? Only Kidding! It is actually pretty cool knowing that what we set out to do three years ago has happened because of the hard work of the people on the team. A dream come true for some people out side of the team but I think for the guys on the team a true reward for getting up in the morning every day for three years at 6:00 a.m. to practice - hard work does pay off. Plus we can truly take the tag of doormat off the program and people had better prepare to play us in the future or they will add their name to the list of fallen heroes. | |||||||
| 2. You accurately predicted that both the Red Sox and Bard would win championships this season. Are you God? | |||||||
| I accurately predicted that the Patriots, Red Sox and Bard College would win the championships with a parlay on the Celtics which is yet to be determined. No it does not make me god but it did put me on the speed dial with him and my accountant. | |||||||
| 3. How depressing is it to be championship-free Vassar right now? | |||||||
| Not so fast! They are the Kings of the HudsonValley for the second straight year and they did get a trophy for it this past year. | |||||||
| 4. Despite the championship, Bard was not given an NCAA tournament bid. How long do you believe it will take for the Raptors to be included in the big dance? | |||||||
| ECAC next year and the NCAA automatic bid from the NEAC the following year. | |||||||
| 5. Do flowers smell sweeter now that you are a champion? If so, how much sweeter? | |||||||
| I think a lot of people wondered why I would take a crappy job like Bard had to offer three years ago. My response - the old one liner - He stepped in it and came out smelling like roses - applies all too well. It wasn't hard to see the potential of a sleeping volcano - we are obviously sending up puffs of smoke and the temperature is rising - all we need is the eruption, which come as soon as next year in my mind. | |||||||
| 6. Where does this team rank among the greatest ever at Bard? | |||||||
| Well, that is an impossible question for me to answer because I did not know that BardCollege existed two months before I took the job three years ago. Of the three teams I have coached it is the best for the time being - my first team was good because it was the first one if you catch my meaning but having the guys together and realizing that what we have talked about and prepared for is a reality now is really special. It's proof positive that it can be done and obviously opens several more doors that may have been previously closed forever. | |||||||
