| Editorial: Retire Turner, Mandlin's Numbers August 7 - The Raptormania! editorial board believes the time has come to honor Bard all-time greats Adam Turner and Michael Mandlin by hanging their numbers, 31 and 33, from the rafters at Stevenson Gymnasium. Turner averaged more than 20 points per game while setting Raptor records for most points, three-pointers, free throws. In his role as Captain for three seasons, he led Bard to the most victories of any player (33) and a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference title. His intensity helped the 03-04 squad to set a Bard record for fewest points allowed per game. Mandlin, a 6-4 center whose career included being named Division III Player of the Year by multiple media outlets, was the key cog in the late-90's Phil Roloson teams. Under Coach Wood, the Bard basketball team has grown into its future while recognizing its past. Truly, we can think of no more appropriate action as the Skyline Conference beckons than to thank two of the players who made such a move possible. |
