| 7. Bard 77, Albany Pharmacy 70 (December 3, 2002) Adam Turner announced his presence on the Bard campus with authority, Nuke Laloosh-style, with 45 points as Bard defeated Pharmacy for the first time. No word as to whether or not he was wearing garters at the time. 6. Bard 81, Vassar 51 (76-77) Cliff Forrest had 22 points as the hapless Brewers fell to Bard, 81-51 before a SRO crowd at the Old Gym. Bard went on to a 10-8 overall record, including a 9-3 NAC league record, and posted victories over Mt. St. Mary's, St. Rose, and Columbia-Greene Community College. 5. Bard 69, Pratt 63 (December 10, 2003) The Raptors captured their first HVMAC league victory ever with a 69-63 win at home over Pratt Institute. Just 14 months later, the Raptors were champions. 4. Bard defeats Vassar (94-95) Kyle Wheeler leads the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds as Bard posts a victory over Vassar, 68-60. This was the last time Bard defeated their archrivals. 3. Bard 87, Johnson State 86 (November 22, 2003) The Raptors show they can win against both an NCAA team and a hostile crowd. With Adam Turner out due to dubious foul calls, co-captain Collin Orcutt sinks a buzzer-beating three pointer to shock the Badgers and former Bard coach Greg Dixon, the very man who recruited both Orcutt and Turner. Kind of like Oedipus Rex, except for the incest. (Listen to the game) 2. Bard 90, SUNY-Purchase 65 (February 19, 2005) Bard does not disappoint in its first-ever home postseason game. The Raptors race out to a 36-15 lead, and never are seriously challenged by a Purchase team that had never lost to Bard. Adam Turner leads all scorers with 32 points, and Bard pulls into the championship game of the HVMAC tournament with the biggest win in the program's history, a distinction that will last less than 24 hours. 1. Bard 68, St. Joseph's of Brooklyn 67 (February 20, 2005) The top-ranked team in the HVMAC falls to Bard for the second time in a week. The previous Saturday, Adam Turner's 25-footer lifted Bard down in Brooklyn, 61-58, the first time the Raptors had defeated the Bears. This time around, Collin Orcutt's double-pump jumper in the lane as time expires gives Bard its first championship. |
