| NASHUA, NH, November 21 - Once again, Bard and Johnson State played a barnburner. Once again, the Raptors needed a big shot from Collin Orcutt. Once again, they got it. Orcutt's three-pointer with 1:17 left gave Bard a lead they never relinquished, en route to an 83-76 win Sunday at the Rivier Tip Off tournament. The loss was the second overtime setback in a row for Badger head man Greg Dixon, who deserved a better fate. But his team did not execute down the stretch, while Bard continued to show that crunch time is indeed Raptor time. Many feel Dixon's decision to leave Bard may have contributed to his snakebitten run against the Raptors. Consider this: no former Bard coach has ever gone on to post a winning record at any other school. Nevertheless, we wish Dixon well, a coach with many talents. Unfortunately for him, beating the Raptors simply isn't one of them. Meanwhile, Dixon's last recruiting class at Bard included both Orcutt and Adam Turner, who had all 25 of his points in the second half. We salute Greg Dixon- a true giant in Bard basketball history, and a prince among men. |
