Latiqua Williams: Quadruple-Double
November 17, 2008
Latiqua Williams, one of the Twin Towers of Doom
for Bard's women's basketball team, made up for the
injured Twin Tower Blaire Moldenhauer with one of
Division III's first recorded quadruple-doubles,
leading Bard to a 75-28 victory over College of New
Rochelle, the biggest tragedy to hit the Westchester
town since the cancellation of The Dick Van Dyke
Show.
Williams, a 5'10" sophomore, had 21 points, 13
rebounds, 11 steals and 10 assists in the victory. It is
particularly noteworthy that the interior player
accomplished the feat with assists and steals, which
are normally the territory of the perimeter player.
Williams's game was far from a fluke: she averaged a
double-double last season, with 10.0 points and 10.1
rebounds as a freshman.
The combination of Williams and Moldenhauer, who
is set to return next week, gives the Raptors a 1-2
punch in the middle that is worthy of the Skyline
Conference name. Head coach Jen Watson is
building a dynasty to rival the renaissance enjoyed by
the men's team under all-time wins leader Chris
Wood.
The Raptors next travel to Yeshiva University, where
the thousands of years of suffering by the Jewish
people is only expected to intensify, once Bard is
finished with the Maccabees. Special pre-Hannukah
dreidels have already been printed for the game, with
the phrase "A great massacre happened here."
