Recruiting Haul Makes Raptors Favorites in 04-05
May 7 - Bard has continued to build on the success of last year's record-setting season with reinforcements. Four top players bowed to the inevitable, becoming part of a renaissance the Medicis could only dream of. VINCENT LECHOWICK - 6'9", 215 lbs. From Oakwood School in Los Angeles, CA. Lechowick chose Bard over Vassar, Columbia, Brown and Tulane. The post player also has a solid outside shot. Lechowick combines that inside/outside game with top height, a skill he gradually developed over the first 17 years of his life. TREVOR McGINN - 6'5", 195 lbs. From Thetford Academy, Thetford, VT. McGinn chose Bard over Colby and Bates. Bard was his top choice all along, and we love him for it. The powerful rebounder led Thetford to the state title. He was rewarded with the prestigious "Day of Cheese VIP Pass" at the Cabot Cheddar Cheese Factory, a lifelong dream for every Vermont child. Those who have seen Trevor play say he has as much heart as cows have stomachs. BRENDAN KENNELLY - 6'6", 210 lbs. From Salem Central, Salem NY. Kennelly's bruising inside presence helped Salem to the Section II semifinals. Kennelly's senior year included a 16 point, 21 rebound, 6 block game. He provides a solid shot-blocking bookend for returning intimidator Josef Woldense, and a weakside rebounder that will free up scoring machine Adam Turner. Kennelly's father teaches at Skidmore, but for the Professor, who chairs Skidmore's business department, the decision must be easy to understand. It's supply and demand. Raptormaniacs demand an NCAA title- Kennelly will help supply one. RAYMOND AROCHO, JR. - 6'2", 180 lbs. Brewster Academy. From Brooklyn, NY. Arocho chose a different path than his six DI teammates, picking Bard over St. John's and Manhattan. Arocho can play either guard position, though his natural position is point guard. He gives the Raptors another look in the backcourt, complementing Drew McCormack and Collin Orcutt. "I guess it's safe to say Bard is SERIOUS about basketball... thanks. You ruined my summer." -Joe Iannotti, Sarah Lawrence head coach

Salem High School's Brendan Kennelly (42) leads a bumper crop of recruits, assuming "bumper crop" is a good thing. I grew up in New Jersey, and thus don't know.
