WINNING AND CHEESE:
A COMPARATIVE PRIMER
BY TREVOR "MVP" McGINN
1.Defeating Rivier, an NCAA tournament team from 2006-2007 was highly satisfying for us as a team, because we'd lost to them in the finals of their tip off tournament my sophomore year, and I distinctly remembered the taste that was left in our collective mouth. That taste, would probably be characterized as of Limburger, the notorious awful, smelly cheese. This win, was a heavenly reprieve, not unlike the wonderful, rich, creamy overtones of Cabot Cheddar Cheese.
2. Hitting the shot with 10 seconds left was an incredible feeling for me, because I've sometimes struggled throughout the course of seasons, and it was important to me that the basket was made possible by a terrific pass from Justin White. Being able to give my team the lead, and finish off a great play by a teammate created an adrenaline high that could only be considered comparable to the jolt your taste buds receive when being rebuked by an arrogantly tasty piece of Cabot Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
3. Being named the MVP of the tournament, honestly is actually humbling. I'm acutely aware of my limitations as a player, and it's an incredible feeling to still be acknowledged as an important member of your team when you don't always score a ton of points. Likewise, there's nothing quite as enjoyable as sitting down with a box of Wheat things and getting after a solid hunk of Smoked Gouda, preferably from Vermont.
